Why I Built My Portfolio as a Shopify Store

Why I Built My Portfolio as a Shopify Store

Most web portfolios are static. They show a few screenshots, list some tools, and ask visitors to imagine the rest. That never felt like the right fit for Shopify work.

Shopify is interactive by nature. A good theme is not just a nice homepage. It has to handle products, variants, collections, filters, search, cart behaviour, blogs, pages, images, no-image states, pagination, and all the little settings merchants need to control their store.

That is why I built ID_within as a live Shopify store. The portfolio is not separate from the work. The store is the work.

You can browse product cards, test variant selectors, read blog articles, search for content, use collection filters, open the cart, and see how the theme responds across real templates.

It also gives me a better way to improve the theme. When something looks rough, breaks with real content, or needs a better setting, I can see it in context.

This approach turns the portfolio into a living demo. It shows how I think about ecommerce, not just how I style a page.
