Product uploads are common in print, personalised goods, artwork, engraving, gifting, and custom merchandise. The problem is that many stores bolt this workflow onto the product page without thinking through the full journey.
A good upload flow needs to answer a few questions clearly:
- What file does the customer need to upload?
- Is the file required before checkout?
- What formats are accepted?
- How does the merchant receive and manage the file?
- What happens if the customer uploads the wrong thing?
Product Upload Prints is my app concept for this workflow. The aim is to make uploads feel native to the product page, while giving merchants a cleaner way to manage order files.
The storefront experience matters because customers need confidence before buying. The merchant experience matters because uploaded files often become part of fulfilment, review, and production.
This is the kind of Shopify problem that can be solved with a custom app or app extension rather than forcing everything into theme code.
